Hillel Colorado: Hillel CSU: Hillel CU Boulder: Hillel DU:

We are Hillel.

Good nonprofits measure success with metrics (did you know over 200 students accompanied Hillel of Colorado on Birthright Israel trips last year?), and Hillel of Colorado has impressive statistics and numbers to share.

Just as important, though, are the stories, the anecdotes, the personal influence the nonprofit has on individuals today that can last a lifetime. Each month we will share with you another such student spotlight. Enjoy! Kvell!

Hillel gives me the opportunity to see many expressions of Judaism, from culturally connected to modern Orthodox. Understanding this diversity in my own people has helped me relate to the broader diversity on campus.

Being involved at Hillel has helped me explore how to apply 21st century ideas to ancient Judaic morals and bring my understanding to leadership roles, both within Hillel and on campus.

Hillel welcomed me with open arms. I knew right away that I had found my home away from home. Praying shoulder to shoulder at holiday celebrations and Shabbat gatherings with what would become some of my closest friends has made me feel more rooted in my Jewish identity and inspired me to continue growing and learning as a Jew.

Leah Dunn — University of Colorado — Boulder

I have been active in Hillel throughout my time at CU and I feel that it helps me to celebrate my Judaism in a unique way that wouldn’t be possible otherwise.

Ever since I became a bat mitzvah on the top of Masada, I have wanted to return to Israel. While I was there on Birthright, I gained an even deeper connection with my Jewish identity that I can celebrate every week with my friends at Hillel. I have had a longstanding desire to make Aliyah and spend the rest of my life living in Israel. Thanks to Birthright and Hillel, I now know that is the right path for me.
